Han Yuan(韓瑗, 606-659), born in Sanyuan district(三原) of Capital commandery(京兆), was an official of the Tang Dynasty who served Emperor Gaozong(高宗) as chancellor. When Emperor Gaozong was about to remove his first wife Empress Wang(王皇后) and install Consort Wu(Wu Zhaoyi, 武昭儀) as empress, he criticized the emperor's order.
