A Ming commander 指揮 who came to Joseon in 1593 to fight against the Japanese. 유준언(兪俊彦)
Yu Liang 庾亮 유량
(위량)
(289–340). An official and general of the Jin 晉 dynasty. A native of Yingchuan Commandery 潁川郡. In the early reign of Emperor Cheng 成帝, he dominated the court as regent. 량(Liang 亮), 원규(Yuangui 元規)
Yu Qian 于謙 우겸
(위쳰)
(1398-1457 CE). A native of Hangzhou (杭州), Zhejiang (浙江); a jinshi of 1421. Appointed Minister of War (兵部尙書) after the so-called Tumu Fort Incident (土木堡之變), he successfully defended Beijing against the Oirat Mongols.
Yu Qiuzi 虞丘子 우구자
(위추쯔)
A prime minister (lingyin 令尹) during the reign of King Zhuang of Chu 楚莊王 during the Spring and Autumn period. 구자(Qiuzi 丘子)

(위랑)
A famous assassin in the state of Jin 晉 in the Spring and Autumn period, who attempted to kill Zhao Xiangzi 趙襄子 for the sake of dead Zhi Bo 智伯.
Yu Sheji 虞世基 우세기
(위서지)
Yu Sheji(虞世基, ?-681) was an official and calligrapher of the Sui Dynasty(隋). Born in Kuaiji commandery(會稽), he was the elder brother of Yu Shenan(虞世南). He was favored by Emperor Yang(煬帝) for his calligraphic talent. In 618, he and Emperor Yang were killed by Yuwen Huaji(宇文化及). 세기(世基), 우세기(虞世基), 무세(懋世)
Yu Shenxing 于愼行 우신행
(위센싱)
(1545-1607) A native of Yanzhou 兗州 who won a jinshi degree in 1568. He served as Senior Compiler 修撰 and was later promoted to Minister of Rites (禮部尙書) in 1589.
Yu Shiji 兪士吉 유사길
(위스지)
A native of Xiangshan 象山. During the Hongwu 洪武 reign, he became a juren 擧人and served as a minor educational official. During the Jianwen 建文 reign (1399-1402), he became a censor. As a censor, he presented his opinions on current affairs and discovered false accusations. During the Yongle 永樂 period (1403-1424), he became senior censor and higher provincial official. He eventually became Vice Minister 侍郞 of the Ministry of Justice 刑部 in Nanjing 南京 during the Xuande 宣德 reign (1426-1435). 사길(士吉), 유사길(兪士吉)
Yu Shimen 于什門 우십문
(위스먼)
An official of the Northern Wei 北魏 during the Sixteen Kingdoms period. In the reign of Emperor Mingyuan 明元帝, he was sent to the Later Yan 後燕 as an envoy. However he was detained by Feng Ba 馮跋 for 20 years. After Feng Ba became a vassal of the Northern Wei, he returned to the Northern Wei in 434.
Yu Shinan 虞世南 우세남
(위스난)
Yu Shinan(虞世南, 558-638) was an official and prominent calligrapher of the Tang Dynasty(唐朝). The Emperor Taizong(太宗) trusted him and promoted him to Scholar at Hongwen Institute(弘文館學士) and Supervising Censor(秘書監) among other positions. As a calligrapher, he was skilled at the Regular Script(楷書). Ouyang Xun(歐陽詢), Chu Suiliang(褚遂良), and he were called the three maestros of the Early Tang Dynasty(初唐). Among his calligraphic works, the inscription on Kongfu's shrine (Kongzimiaotangbei 孔子廟堂碑) was the most well-known. 우세남(虞世南), (伯施)
