Chen Hongzhi(陳弘志, ?-835) was a eunuch in the reign of Emperor Xianzong(憲宗) of the Tang Dynasty. Xianzong, in his later years, was addicted to medicine of immortality(丹藥) whose side effects made him violent and impatient with a result that he often beat court ladies and eunuchs. The succession dispute made things worse, so Chen Hongzhi and Wang Shoucheng(王守澄) assassinated the emperor in 820. Dhen Hongzhi's power rose after this, but he was later killed by order of Emperor Wenzong(文宗) in 835. | 진홍지(陳弘志) |
