Fang Xuanling(房玄齡, 579–648) was a famous chancellor in the early years of the Tang Dynasty. He was a intimate assistant of Emperor Taizong(太宗) even before his coup, and participated in the Xuanwu gate coup(玄武門之變). He and his colleague Du Ruhui(杜如晦) were known as examples of good chancellors. They were collectively called Fang Du(房杜). | 방(房), 방교(房喬) |

Fang Yanqian(房彦謙, 547~?), born in Qinghe commandery(淸河郡), was an official of the Sui Dynasty(隋). He was invited to become an assistant(主簿) under Wang Xiaoheng(王孝珩) at age 18. In 587, he was appointed an inspecting censor(監察御使), and then governor of the army(監軍). However he was demoted to magistrate(縣令) when he annoyed his superior.
